My approach
I understand that sharing or admitting thoughts, feelings, or behaviors we are not proud of can be difficult. I take pride in protecting my clients' sessions in accordance with HIPAA-compliant requirements and expectations. Our sessions are confidential, and my role is to understand where you're coming from and figure out which strategies or tools work best for you. Because it’s my job to understand your view, I welcome you to push back on me when I misunderstand your perspective.
The first session is designed to review the required paperwork, discuss your rights, and set up the goals you'd like to achieve. Then, we can begin your journey. As this is your journey, I would like to request your permission to use a survey, assessment, or technique that may help guide you toward your goal.
Most clients request homework to work on before the next session, allowing them to practice using their tools, strategies, or new techniques. Homework is not a requirement. However, if asked, it is determined by your needs or the direction of the session. Sometimes, the homework is emotionally challenging, so I'm happy to work on it with you during the next session.
My goal for each client is to have them walk away feeling confident about meeting their goals, equipped with tools and strategies to use in various environments, and with a relapse plan in place, just in case, because we are human. I would like this for you, too.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if this works for you.
